After months of searching internationally, the KL Academy of Polo has finally got our man.  KLAP has engaged English polo professional Andrew Gebbie as our coaching director. Andrew is 26 years old and is from Romsey, in Hampshire, England. Andrew holds a 2-goal handicap and has a 4-goal rating in arena polo.  Importantly, Andrew is a Hurlingham Polo Association certified instructor, the only such instructor based in Asia.

In the United Kingdom, Andrew has been a member of Tidworth, Taunton Vale, Druid’s Lodge, Beaufort and Cirencester Polo Clubs.

Selected to be part of the Hurlingham Polo Association’s Development Training Program, Andrew has played in several Young England teams. In 2011, Andrew was selected by the HPA Development Committee to train with Buster McKenzie in South Africa.

In management, Andrew has worked with the Beaufort Polo Club (UK), Druid’s Lodge (UK), Mandalay Polo Team (Australia), and Morningstar (New Zealand).

Andrew has won two Retraining of Racehorses Awards in the United Kingdom. He has also made ponies in Australia and New Zealand. He has played polo in Australia, Argentina, New Zealand, South Africa and Spain.

In January 2013 Andrew won every major trophy in Western Australia. He is particularly proud to have also won the Best String of Ponies at the Charles Cup on ponies he had made himself.

Andrew is also an HPA qualified umpire.  He has worked in his family’s horse transport business and holds an HGV Class 1 & Rigid Truck License, Drivers CPC and Welfare of Animals in Transport certification.

Coach Gebbie, as he will be known here, comes to KL Academy of Polo on 18th April 219,  after another successful season in Australia, where he won the Murchison, Stanley, Harkness, and Haggerty Cups.
