PETER IBRAHIM ABISHEGANADEN – MANAGING DIRECTOR & CRI
Managing Director and Chief Riding Instructor Peter Abisheganaden is a polo player who crosses over many equestrian sports. A winner of three South East Asian Games gold medals, Peter has competed in three different equestrian disciplines over four South East Asian Games. Peter founded the South East Asian World Cup Jumping League and show jumped at World Cup level for six years. He is a 12-time South East Asian champion rider in three FEI disciplines, and show jumped at two Asian Games. Peter was also a champion in flat racing, polo and tent-pegging. He played in SEA Games and the FIP World Cup, becoming the first person ever to participate in World Cup events in Show Jumping and Polo in the same season.
An EA/MEM Level 1 qualified riding instructor, Peter prefers to coach polo and competitive show jumpers riders. Peter maintains ties with the show jumping world also as an FEI International Course Designer (Level 3).
Peter has recently qualified as a Skills Specific Trainer & Assessor (SSTA) with Equestrian Australia, with a perfect score.
Peter was previously the Executive Secretary and Polo League Coordinator of the Royal Malaysian Polo Association, running the RMPA Polo Leagues, from 2005 to 2018. He organized and ran the 2011 FIP World Cup Zone D Play-offs and was also Tournament Director of the 2014 and 2017 Zone D Play-offs held in China and Thailand respectively. Peter was appointed by the Federation of International Polo as the Tournament Director of the FIP Snow Polo World Cup (2012-2017) and FIP Super Nations Cup (2012-2014).
Peter is an Ambassador of the Federation of International Polo.
Peter also manages Zack’s Tack, a store that sells horse riding equipment and accessories, horse feed and saddlery.
CHRISTOPHER LADBROOK – RIDING INSTRUCTOR
Chris Ladbrook is an Equestrian Sports New Zealand Development Level Coach (Grade 1 Coach), which is the equivalent of the BHSII in the British Horse Society’s system.
Chris coached the Malaysian National Eventing Team that went to the 1998 Asian Games in Saraburi, Thailand. Tunku Nazroff was one of his team riders, aboard Sprite. The Eventing Team took silver at the 2001 SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur, with Chris again the national coach. In 2013, Chris went one better, winning gold as the dressage coach at the Myanmar SEA Games. As a coach, Chris has also been to many SUKMA Games with teams and individual riders in recent years.
KL Academy of Polo is very pleased to have secured the services of Mr Christopher Ladbrook to teach riding, jumping and equitation at The Selangor Polo Club. He coaches at SPC on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, and on Saturdays.
ALI AKBAR OSMAN – RIDING INSTRUCTOR
Ali Akbar is a senior Instructor at KL Academy of Polo.
An MEM/NCAS Level 1 (General) Instructor with a Sports Science Level 1 certificate holder from Majlis Sukan Negara (MSN), Ali has been teaching horse riding at the SPC Riding School for more than 30 years.
Ali started to work with horses at the age of 23 in Selangor Turf Club. He joined the Selangor Polo Club in 1988 (then called Selangor Polo & Riding Club) and went to Singapore for training as a professional equestrian riding instructor.
Ali was also a competitive rider who used to compete in various disciplines including show jumping, dressage, cross-country and hunter trials.
NEGIN BARHARDAR – RIDING INSTRUCTOR
Iranian lady rider Negin Bahardar came to Malaysia in 2010.
Negin has over 15 years of instructing experience. Riding since the age of 6, she has been competing in jumping and dressage on international level in Europe, India and the Middle East, along with traditional archery from horseback. She is experienced in preparing her riders for competition, and training horses.
Negin has an FEI Level 1 certificate in coaching and an EA/MEM Orientation level certificate for horse care and management.
