Introductory Polo & Riding Camp

The KL Academy of Polo is conducting an Introductory Polo & Riding Camp from Wednesday 26th to Friday 28th June 2019 at the Royal Selangor Polo Club.  This is a 3-hour a day ‘camp’ for the three days.   It is aimed at first time polo players, to give them a touch and feel of the sport.

While participants will be separated by their riding ability, no prior riding experience is necessary to take part in this camp.  The camp will run over 3-hours each day from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.

In addition to learning to ride, participants will learn how to handle a mallet, with lessons with a foot mallet and on ‘Woody’ the wooden horse.  Participants will also learn rules of the game, tactics and some stable management.

No prior riding experience is necessary.

This clinic is conducted by Coaching Director Andrew Gebbie, who is a certified HPA Level 2 Polo Instructor.  The polo school horses are kind and gentle polo ponies specially imported from Argentina.

Participants should come dressed in riding jeans or breeches, and wear riding boots, jodhpur boots or shoes with heels. Please bring your own riding or cycling helmet if you have one.   Please also bring a foot and full-sized mallet if you own one.  Otherwise, we have a selection of helmets, boots and mallets for you to borrow for this camp.

The camp is open to the public.  The cost is RM1,800 for this three-day clinic, which includes high tea each day.  Each clinic participant will also receive a commemorative gift and a certificate of participation.
