Ride along the World Endurance Championship trails, coached by Dato’ Awang Kamaruddin, an FEI World #1 Endurance champion rider. 

KL Academy of Polo is pleased to present an opportunity to ride with Dato’ Awang Kamaruddin, who was the FEI World #1 ranked Endurance Rider in 2001.

Dato’ Awang would make the riding arrangements for a weekend, including pairing all riders with the Arabian endurance horses provided by special arrangement from the Terengganu International Endurance Park (TIEP) at Lembah Bidong, Terengganu, which is on a beach, about 45 mins drive from Kuala Terengganu.

Built to host the 2008 FEI World Endurance Championship, Terengganu International Endurance Park is a world class endurance park.  You will get to ride the trails that the world champions raced over.

Coach Dato’ Awang will brief you on the skills of endurance riding, introduce you to horses, and coach you through the rides.  All riders must be competent and confident in their riding in walk, trot and canter paces.

Over a weekend, there would be four rides:

1. Introductory Ride (1 hour).
2. Sunset Ride – ending after sunset, at night.
3. Trail Ride – through some of the 2008 FEI World Endurance Championship trails.
4. Beach Ride and Swim.

This could be arranged for a Friday to Sunday course, or just the weekend of Saturday and Sunday. Each rider would have two horses to be able to complete this endurance training course of four rides over two or three days.

Endurance Rides (races) are held on the last weekend of most months, but not during Ramadhan.

Endurance Riding Course with Dato’ Awang Kamaruddin – Cost:

• For a group of 2 riders, each rider would be charged RM 2,970
• For a group of 3 riders, each rider would be charged RM 2,750
• For a group of 4 riders, each rider would be charged RM 2,640
• For a group of 5 riders, each rider would be charged RM 2,420
• For a group of 6 riders, each rider would be charged RM 2,270

Form your own groups or let us pair you up with other riders from KL Academy of Polo.

Dato’ Awang is confident that anyone who completes this training with him would be ready to compete in a CEN 40 KM Endurance Ride.  Endurance Rides (races) are held on the last weekend of most months.  However, this course does not include a race, which incurs entry, crewing and other professional fees.

Riders who are interested to discuss our Endurance Riding Course with Dato’ Awang Kamaruddin can meet him at 9:00 AM on Sunday 15th January 2023, at the Kuala Lumpur Polo Club (RSPC).

Other Conditions:

• Minimum age of riders is 14 years of age.  Parental consent is required for any riders under the age of 21.
• Riders should find their transportation to Lembah Bidong, Terengganu.
• If you are flying into Kuala Terengannu, an airport pick-up can be arranged.
• Hotel and personal meal costs are not included.
• We recommend that you stay at the Sutera Beach Resort, just 5 minutes from TIEP.
• Each course is limited to a maximum of six riders.
