Lockdown 3.0

The Royal Selangor Polo Club has gone into a complete lockdown again as the club announced that  1 polo trainer, 1 groundsman and 6 security guards tested positive for Covid-19 . No members are allowed to enter the club.

It matters little that 95 admin staff, grounds staff and grooms tested negative, other than it was a very good effort on the part of the stable staff.  The eight positive cases sealed the club’s fate.  It means KL Academy of Polo won’t be opening for operations till the club is sanitized and opened again.   When that will be will depend on Malaysia moving to the next phase in its Covid-19 response.

For now, all grooms and exercise riders must stay on the premises to look after the horses.  Grooms and staff that live outside the club’s premises will not be allowed in.  Therefore, KL Academy of Polo’s grooms have yesterday moved back into the club.

The horses are being taken care of by our staff.  We have an exercise schedule for them, and they will enjoy more paddock time.

On a positive note, KL Academy of Polo has been working towards the day we can open for riding again.  I am happy to say that all our grooms, instructors and staff have had at least one vaccination.  (See top pic). Many of us have already had the second vaccination too.

KL Academy of Polo hopes to be safe and ready when we can get back to riding again. We will announce that as soon as we know when it will be.

In the meanwhile, we wish all our riders well, and we urge you to stay safe.
