Learn to play polo in Kuala Lumpur.  KL Academy of Polo is starting a new course called Polo 101 starting in January.  This course is designed to get riders started in polo. 

POLO 101 consists of 16 lessons in total, held twice a week, over two months.  Twelve of those lessons are mounted and will include:

• Riding for Polo
• Stick and Ball lessons

Three lessons will be on “Woody,” the wooden horse, learning the polo strokes. One dismounted lesson will be on the rules of polo, player roles and positioning on the field.

This POLO 101 course would be conducted on KL Academy of Polo’s specially imported Argentine polo ponies.  It is taught by triple SEA Games gold medallist and Level 1 instructor, Peter Abisheganaden.  Guest instructors may be invited to teach.

The prerequisite for this course is that riders have to be confident riders, well established in their canter work.

There will be two POLO 101 courses, run concurrently.

1. Tuesday & Thursday Mornings, or
2. Wednesday & Friday Afternoons

Other conditions:

• However, riders in POLO 101AM may not switch to POLO 101PM.
• Each session is limited to first five qualified riders who sign up.
• RSPC members have priority over non-members.
• Riders who are unable to attend a group session will not have a replacement class. This is a fixed 16 lesson schedule.
• Riders will be expected to practice hitting on the wooden horse and on foot, in their own time, outside of scheduled POLO 101 lessons.
• Riders must consult their KL Academy of Polo instructor about their readiness, and be recommended by him to be accepted into a POLO 101 course.
• Non-KL Academy of Polo riders may have an assessment to verify their riding skills.
• KL Academy of Polo reserves the right to exclude riders whose riding may not yet be up to the required standard.
• Confirmation is by payment or club billing of the course fee.

Cost of the group lessons course, ridden on KL Academy of Polo ponies is:

• RSPC Members RM1,500
• Non-Members RM2,000

This course is also available on request, as private lessons on KL Academy of Polo ponies.  Lessons may be scheduled privately.  The cost of the private course is:

• RSPC Members RM3,200
• Non-Members RM4,000

For private lessons on private horses, the cost is:

• RSPC Members RM2,200 per person
